Jincy Dunne is an American professional ice hockey defenseman known for her elite defensive play and long standing role in USA Hockey programs, where she developed into one of the most consistent blue-liners of her generation.

She first made a name for herself at a very young age in international youth tournaments, captaining USA teams at the U18 level and earning repeated recognition as one of the best defensemen in the world at that age group. Her ability to control the game from the back end and play heavy minutes made her stand out early, long before her senior professional career began.

After progressing through the USA Hockey development system, she played NCAA hockey at Ohio State University, where she became one of the top defenders in the program’s modern history. Her college career was defined by consistency, leadership, and defensive reliability, earning multiple conference honors and All-American recognition.

On the international stage, she represented the United States at major tournaments, including the Winter Olympics, where she was part of the team that reached the silver medal game in 2022. She has also been part of multiple World Championship rosters, contributing as a steady defensive presence rather than a high-scoring player.

At the professional level, she has continued her career in the PWHL, playing for teams such as Ottawa and New York before joining Minnesota through league movement and trades as the league evolved. She is seen as a foundational type of defender, valued for structure, positioning and experience at the highest level of women’s hockey.

Outside of hockey, she comes from a very athletic family, with several siblings also playing competitive hockey, including NHL player Josh Dunne and fellow hockey players Joy Dunne and others, creating one of the most notable hockey families in American women’s hockey development.
